Further west is Riverside South, the strip of towers along Riverside Boulevard and West End Avenue built over the former Penn Central rail yards. West End Towers, the largest building in the neighborhood with 1,000 apartments, opened there in 1994, followed by 180 Riverside Boulevard in 1998 and The Aldyn and The Ashley in 2010. 21 West End, completed in 2016, has 616 apartments over 43 floors. Hawthorn Park on West 62nd Street is the tallest building here at 54 floors. The neighborhood leans toward larger, newer doorman buildings, and the mix of landlords, including the Brodsky Organization, Equity Residential and Extell Development, gives renters a range of options within a few blocks.
