New York Apartment Building Map

The New York apartment buildings map plots every building in this directory as a single pin on one interactive map — 247 buildings holding 123,248 apartments in all, across four of New York City’s five boroughs: Manhattan (171), Brooklyn (44), Queens (27) and the Bronx (5). No Staten Island building is recorded. Key Facts About the New York Apartment Buildings Map

  • What it is: one interactive map of every apartment building recorded in this directory — 247 buildings holding 123,248 apartments — with a single pin for each building.
  • How it is filtered: a panel on the map lists the directory’s categories as checkboxes, all switched on by default. Every building is filed under one of 4 boroughs and one of 48 smaller neighborhoods, so you can narrow the map to a whole borough or to a single neighborhood.
  • What a pin shows: clicking a pin opens a card with the building name and the street address, plus a link to that building’s full listing page.
  • What the numbered circles mean: where buildings sit close together the map groups them into a numbered circle, and the number is how many buildings are inside it. Zooming in separates the circle into individual pins.
  • What the map does not carry: no rent, no pricing, no availability and no floor plans. This directory publishes none of those values, and a pin marks a building, not an apartment available to rent today.
  • Where the fuller record lives: each pin links to a listing page that records the building’s borough and neighborhood, year built, apartment count, floors and managing or owning company, with a link to the public source for those figures. The aggregate building data and the alphabetical A–Z index of every building are published separately.

How to Use the New York Apartment Buildings Map

Each pin represents one building in the directory, and every pin uses the same marker, so pin color does not encode a borough, a neighborhood or a category. Where several buildings sit close together the map groups them into a numbered circle; zoom in and that circle separates into individual pins. In the densest parts of Manhattan you may need to zoom in several times before every building shows as its own pin.

Click any pin to open a card with the building name and the street address, then follow the link on the card to the building’s full listing page. Drag the map to move between boroughs, and use the zoom control in the corner to move in and out. On mobile the map works the same way: pinch to zoom in on a cluster, tap a pin, and tap through to the listing.

Explore New York Boroughs and Neighborhoods by Map

Most of the directory is in Manhattan: Manhattan holds 171 of the 247 buildings and 85,777 of the apartments, followed by Brooklyn with 44 buildings, Queens with 27 and the Bronx with 5. The neighborhoods with the most buildings are Hell’s Kitchen (22), Upper West Side (17), Downtown Brooklyn (16) and Financial District (15). The Brooklyn and Queens buildings are newer on the whole — median years built of 2018 and 2017 (rounded), against 2001 in Manhattan — and the median building has 30 floors in Manhattan, 32.5 in Brooklyn and 32 in Queens. All 27 Queens buildings carry Long Island City (23) or Astoria (4) mailing addresses. Each borough and each neighborhood also has its own page listing every building in it, and the neighborhoods guide lists all 48 by borough, if you would rather browse without the map.

What the New York Apartment Buildings Map Does Not Show

The map is a location index, not a rental listings feed. It carries no rent figures, no pricing, no availability and no floor plans, because this directory does not publish those values on any page. A pin means the building exists and is recorded here; whether an apartment is open in it, and on what terms, is a question for that building’s own leasing office. The directory does not record building amenities or transit either, so confirm pets, parking, laundry, air conditioning and fitness facilities with the leasing office.

The map is also not a census of every rental building in New York City. The directory is an index of 247 large rental apartment buildings, ranging from 84 to 8,757 apartments, and it is not finished — more buildings are being added. Neighborhood groupings are approximate, and a building’s street address is the precise reference. For the same recorded set in alphabetical order, see the A–Z building index, see the largest apartment buildings in New York City, or search the full directory by building name, borough and neighborhood.
