West 54th Apartments

West 54th Apartments is a rental apartment building at 505 West 54th Street in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan, owned and managed by Equity Residential. It stands at Tenth Avenue on the northern side of Hell’s Kitchen, in the blocks between the Theater District and the Hudson River.

DeWitt Clinton Park is two blocks west along West 54th Street, and Hudson River Park and the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum are on the waterfront beyond it. Ninth Avenue’s restaurants run south toward the Broadway theaters, and Columbus Circle and Central Park are northeast. The C and E stop at 50th Street on Eighth Avenue, the A, B, C, D and 1 meet at 59th Street-Columbus Circle, and the M11 and M31 run along Tenth Avenue.

Completed in 2003, the 13-story building holds 222 apartments and is typical of the mid-rise buildings permitted in the Special Clinton District, created in the 1970s to protect the neighborhood’s low-rise character. Equity Residential owns it, and Hudson River Park and the Pier 97 park are a short walk west.
