Near the approach to the West Side Highway at the northern end of Hell’s Kitchen, The Westport occupies the block between Tenth and Eleventh Avenues at 500 West 56th Street. The Related Companies manages the 24-story building, completed in 2003 with 371 apartments, and in the same neighborhood also manages Manhattan Plaza and MiMA.

The cluster of large towers on West 57th Street is just north, and Hudson River Park, the greenway and the Pier 97 park are a few blocks west. Columbus Circle, the southwestern corner of Central Park and Lincoln Center are a walk northeast, and the Theater District and the restaurants along Ninth and Tenth Avenues are within a few blocks.

The A, B, C, D and 1 trains at 59th Street-Columbus Circle are the closest subway service, with the C and E at 50th Street to the south.
