The Ashland is a rental apartment tower at 250 Ashland Place in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, developed by the Gotham Organization. It stands at the junction of Ashland Place, Lafayette Avenue and Flatbush Avenue, in the BAM Cultural District, and its base was built to house cultural tenants and a ground-floor food hall.

The Brooklyn Academy of Music, BRIC House, the Mark Morris Dance Center and the Theatre for a New Audience are all within a block or two, and Fort Greene Park is a short walk northeast. The Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center complex, one of the largest transit hubs in Brooklyn, is immediately south, with the B, Q and R at DeKalb Avenue and the C at Lafayette Avenue nearby.

Completed in 2016, the 53-story tower holds 586 apartments and is the tallest building in Fort Greene in this index. It was developed as part of the city’s plan for the BAM Cultural District, which paired new housing with space for arts organizations, and it includes income-restricted apartments leased through the city’s housing lottery.

The Gotham Organization, a family-owned New York developer, also built Gotham West in Hell’s Kitchen and Gotham Point in Long Island City, two of the largest mixed-income developments in this index.
