Renting in Court Square

Court Square is the high-rise core of Long Island City, a few blocks inland from the waterfront. For decades its skyline was a single building, the green-glass Citigroup tower at One Court Square. After a 2001 rezoning and a wave of construction in the 2010s, it is now one of the densest clusters of new rental towers in the city.

The largest is Jackson Park on Jackson Avenue, completed in 2018. With 1,871 apartments in three towers around a private park, it is the largest rental building in Queens in this index. Rockrose Development runs four of the eight buildings listed here, including Hayden (974 apartments, 50 floors) and Eagle Lofts (790 apartments, 54 floors), whose name recalls the Eagle Electric factory that once stood nearby. The Bold on Jackson Avenue, completed in 2024, is the newest.

Transit is the neighborhood’s strongest selling point. The 7, E, M and G all meet at Court Square, Queens Plaza adds the E, M and R, and Queensboro Plaza adds the N and W. Most buildings are a stop or two from Midtown, which makes Court Square one of the fastest commutes in the city for the rent. MoMA PS1 is on Jackson Avenue, and the Hunters Point waterfront parks are a 10 to 15 minute walk away.

The streets are still a mix of new towers, warehouses and auto shops, and some blocks feel unfinished. Renters who want a more settled feel often look at Hunters Point to the southwest, while those who want the most new construction for the money tend to land here.
