Brooklyn Heights sits on the bluff directly across the East River from Lower Manhattan, bounded by the Brooklyn Bridge, Court Street, Atlantic Avenue and the harbor. It was the first neighborhood in New York City designated a historic district, and its brownstone blocks end at the Promenade, which runs above the BQE with Brooklyn Bridge Park below. Montague Street is its commercial spine, and Borough Hall and Court Street put the 2, 3, 4, 5, R and N within a few blocks of the A and C at Jay Street–MetroTech.

Renting in Brooklyn Heights
Brooklyn Heights became the first neighborhood in New York to be designated a historic district, in 1965, and its streets of 19th-century brownstones and row houses are protected from large-scale new development. As a result, big rental buildings are very rare here.
180 Montague is the one indexed: a 33-story tower on the neighborhood’s main commercial street, managed by Equity Residential, and the oldest of the Brooklyn buildings in this index. Residents are a few minutes from the Brooklyn Heights Promenade and Brooklyn Bridge Park, and Borough Hall, Court Street and Clark Street stations put the 2, 3, 4, 5, R, A, C and F trains within a short walk.
