420 Kent

420 Kent is a rental apartment development at 420 Kent Avenue on the South Williamsburg waterfront in Brooklyn, developed by Spitzer Enterprises. It consists of three angular glass towers set along the East River, designed by ODA, on a site just north of the Williamsburg Bridge.

The development has its own waterfront frontage and esplanade, with Domino Park a short walk north and the bridge approach immediately south. The J, M and Z trains at Marcy Avenue are a few blocks inland, the L at Bedford Avenue is further north, and the NYC Ferry landing at Schaefer Landing is nearby. South Williamsburg’s Hasidic neighborhood and the Broadway retail corridor lie to the east.

Completed in 2019, the three towers hold 857 apartments, making 420 Kent one of the largest rental developments in Williamsburg. ODA designed them as stacked, angled volumes so that more apartments get corner exposures and river views, and the towers step down toward the water. The developer, Spitzer Enterprises, is the family company of former New York governor Eliot Spitzer.

The waterfront esplanade along the site is open to the public and links toward Domino Park, and residents get some of the closest-in views in Brooklyn of the Manhattan skyline and the Williamsburg Bridge. The upper floors of the tallest tower look across the river to the Lower East Side and Midtown.
