Building Categories: Dutch Kills Queens

Tower 28 is a rental apartment tower at 42-12 28th Street in Long Island City, Queens, developed by Heatherwood. When it topped out it was among the tallest residential buildings in the borough, standing well above the low-rise blocks of Dutch Kills that surround it.

The building is a few minutes from Queens Plaza, served by the E, M and R, and Queensboro Plaza, served by the 7, N and W, which together put Grand Central, Bryant Park and Herald Square within a short ride. Court Square, MoMA PS1 and the Long Island City office towers are just south, Sunnyside and Astoria are each a walk away, and the Queensboro Bridge crossing into Manhattan is immediately west.

Completed in 2017, the 58-story tower holds 451 apartments. Heatherwood, a Long Island-based developer, built it in the Dutch Kills blocks near Queens Plaza after the 2001 rezoning of Long Island City opened the area to high-rise housing. Its height gives upper floors sweeping views of the Midtown skyline and the Queensboro Bridge.
