Sven

Sven is a rental apartment tower at 29-59 Northern Boulevard in Long Island City, Queens, developed and managed by the Durst Organization. It rises behind the restored Brewster Building, the 1911 factory where Rolls-Royce cars and later aircraft parts were assembled, which Durst incorporated into the development as its base and amenity floors.

The tower stands at the Queens Plaza gateway to Long Island City, where Northern Boulevard meets the approach to the Queensboro Bridge. Queensboro Plaza, served by the 7, N and W, and Queens Plaza, served by the E, M and R, are both directly outside, putting Midtown Manhattan a few minutes away. Dutch Kills Green, the Queensbridge Baby Park and the Court Square office cluster are all within a short walk.

Completed in 2021 and designed by Handel Architects, Sven rises 71 stories, making it the tallest rental building in Queens in this index and one of the tallest buildings in the borough. Its 958 apartments include a share of income-restricted units leased through the city’s housing lottery.

The tower’s amenity spaces fill several floors, and its upper floors look across the Queensboro Bridge to the Midtown skyline. Few residential buildings in New York sit closer to a major subway hub: the elevated platforms of Queensboro Plaza are directly across the street.
